🍎 This Week’s Quick Bytes

  • Unofficial Punks Fundraiser: Help us raise 0.5 ETH to migrate the OG (aka V1) UPs from OpenSea’s open storefront contract to an ERC-721. Mint an open edition for 0.0069 ETH (~11 USD). We need to hit 75 mints to reach our goals.

  • Fear of Missing Art (FOMA) magazine just released it’s 10th volume. It features over 200 pages of interviews, art, and concepts from artists like Robness, Empress Trash, Gary Cartlidge, and Trevor Jones. You can read my 2-page spread interview here!

  • If you’re wondering how to list an NFT from zeroone.art onto the Avalanche network via Campfire, then Mr. Zam’s thread will take you step by step. I recently used it myself to list some of mine on the secondary.

  • Y’all know I’m a big fan of RightClick, right? So much so that I use it as as my primary link in my X bio. It’s the best platform for showcasing NFT-based artwork on the web IMO. This week they announced that they’re bringing in dark mode to their UI. Check out the preview here. And I’m super excited about this.

  • I had a conversation with an anon digital artist that’s been making art for 30 years. And they mentioned the generational divide between today’s digital artists and the pioneers. I wrote a post about understanding the pioneers perspective a few weeks back. And I found it helpful in this conversation.

  • Campfire’s co-founder highlights the value of ZeroOne for artists as a space to experiment and attract potential long-term collectors, similar to a 'freemium' model in SaaS.

  • Learn about the secret life of Alotta Money in France including being one of the most prolific creators of cannabis art.

  • In a recent thread, UnknownCollector, suggest that ZeroOne is revolutionary in democratizing digital art, promoting collective appreciation & inclusivity. However, concerns arise with acc't exploitation & value integrity. The platform's balance between art's cultural & monetary value remains delicate.

  • After this week's #CryptoArtFriday OPEN CALL closes, I'll be curating four artists to do drops on Nifty Gateway as part of the inaugural launch of our publisher gallery on their platform.

  • Foundation’s Partnerships Manager crowd sourced advice for artists about sales. The thread contains a lot of advice. Pick what works best for you, ignore the rest. Put it into action immediately. Evaluate and review what what worked and what didn’t work. Improve upon it. Rinse and repeat. Learn what works best for you by doing. Every artist’s situation is different. There is no one-size fits all.

  • Not art related, but listen to Bill Belichick discuss the nuances of a long-snapper in an impromptu response. The depth with which he understands his craft is something I aspire to in mine.

  • Throw back Thursday: Thought this thread about the brief history of “Nobody Wants to Work Anymore” from 2022 by University of Calgary researcher and instructor, Paul Fairie, was pretty interesting.

  • The “free art” debate continues: GT Sewell points out that artists trade their work for 10 others' on zeroone so it’s not free. Your trading goods for goods, a practice that’s been going on for many millennia. It's also a voluntary choice, offers market relief, promotes discovery, and is meant to be fun; critics should respect individual choices and not dictate what's right for others.

  • Capturing the Web3 Zeitgeist: Recently, Beeple chatted with Matt Medved and NFTstats.eth captured the conversation in a thread. Beeple goes on to say about his work: “People get mad. They think I’m trying to promote bad actors in the space. No. I want to capture the mood and sentiment for what everyone is talking about. I try to promote nothing. I just want to be a mirror for what’s going on in our little space.”

I hope I added value to your day. ☀️
